Walking the Red Carpet

Nice and Slightly Naughty

Each of us have a nice and a slightly naughty side, right?  Well, I have a look today that is nice and slightly naughty!

Dealing with Stolen Content - Admiration for Creators

Dear Readers,

Hello!!  I am thrilled to be back in SL and to blogging!  I have missed you all so very much!  It has been wonderful hearing about the adventures you have had during my absence, and I look forward to getting back in touch with everyone!

In this post, I wish to give a round of applause to creators and designers in SL.  I have so much admiration for those who provide the items for our virtual lives!  They spend countless hours during the process of creating and designing an item; furthermore, they also spend large amounts of money on programs, tools, education, and uploading fees!

Sadly, for their pain, some creators are robbed of their creations.  I cannot imagine the heartbreak and frustration of having a creation stolen and resold under another brand.  Nor can I imagine the effort which goes into proving the stolen work was your own.

I bring this situation to light as I recently learned of Kiddo Oh's battle with a design being stolen and resold by another resident in SL.  I strongly encourage you to read her story on the Dead Dollz blog.

Shown in the above photo is a black version of Kiddo Oh's creation named Cosette.  As stated on the Dead Dollz blog, Kiddo Oh is placing this version of her creation for sale for L$1 at the Dead Dollz main store as an effort to disrupt sales of the stolen item during the process of the DCMA filing.

After reading Kiddo Oh's story, you may be wondering what to do if you see something which may be stolen content.  Well, my suggestion is to contact the original creator with the business name, location link of the item (marketplace or SLurl), and brief description of the content in question.  Do not take for granted the original creator knows about the suspected theft.  After making contact, it is then up to the original creator to take action to protect their intellectual property.

Fun in the Sun!

After several cold weather photo shoots, I decided it was time for some fun in the sun!  My finds today from the Flawless "Snow Much Fun" Cart Sale were perfect for my outing to New Brighton Pier!

The beautiful Aoife skin from Essencial at the Flawless Cart Sale was only L$50 as an event exclusive and it goes splendidly with the Yaris shape I found at External Appearance at the Flawless Cart Sale for only L$25!  The fabulously sexy Val dress from KL Couture at the Flawless Cart Sale was only L$50 and shows off my new shape and skin!  To complete the look, I decided to add the Opera Set from Beloved at the Flawless Cart Sale!  You'll be thrilled to know that the Opera Set is only L$50 and is color change via a HUD to coordinate with any of your wardrobe choices!

A second outfit I created from my finds includes the exquisitely enchanting Charin skin from Dulce Secrets at the Flawless Cart Sale and the lovely Maris shape from External Appearance at the Flawless Cart Sale.  The skin and shape are event exclusives and are only L$50!  To my delight, the dress from Blah.Blah.Blah at the Flawless Cart Sale coordinated beautifully with the new skin and shape.  Of course, I had several options as the dress included a HUD with five color choices!

Enchanting Items from the Flawless "Snow Much Fun" Cart Sale

For some of us, the winter weather is becoming a bit depressing; however, you can shake off those blues and attend the Flawless "Snow Much Fun" Cart Sale!  The event will continue until February 28th, so you still have some time to attend.

While exploring the event,  I was instantly drawn to the stunning gown from Womanity at the Flawless Cart Sale!  The Royal Gown is only L$50 during the event and is color change via HUD to eight rich colors!  I think you will agree the colors, ornate pattern of the fabric, and the delicate design is delightfully eye catching!

I was also charmed by the gorgeous Carrie skin from Style by Kira at the Cart Sale!  The skin is beautifully detailed and is only L$100 during the event.   Understandable, I was also drawn to the exquisite Christina jewelry set from Beloved Jewelry at the Cart Sale for only L$245!  The set includes a HUD to change the metals, metal accents, and the gems! You won't have any issue coordinating the set to your outfit!

The final gown I have to show you today is from Lyrical B!zarre at the Cart Sale.  The captivating Kind gown is a full permissions template for creators; however, it does include a wearable product for those of us who are not designers!  Please note that this creation includes a mesh pencil skirt which can be worn without the flowing prim attachments.

A Productive Shopping Trip!

Before I tell you about the exciting creations from several fantastic creators, I wish to briefly explain my being away from SL for such a long time.  As some of you know, I went on a short vacation with my husband that ran over by a few days; however, during the trip, a close family member fell very ill and I have been away from SL since that time to be with family.  I thank those of you who have contacted me out of concern, and I am deeply touched.  

Now, to shake off the dreary RL information, I want to share with you the wonderful creations I found during my recent shopping trip!  

My first stop upon my return was the SYS Project to do a little freshening up!   I found the Mary skin and shape for only L$99 from WoW Skins at the SYS Project!  My delight continued when I found the Starley Revolution skin from Dulce Secrets at the SYS Project for only L$99!

Of course, after updating my skin, I decided my hair needed some attention!   After looking around at the fantastic new creations at Tameless Hair, I finally decided on two new styles!  It was very difficult to choose, but I finally picked out the natural color packs of Dahlia and Becca for only L$249 each!

I also stopped by Miss Canning and found the fetching Mariah Peplum dress for only L$149!  The dress is color change by using a HUD to eight colors!  I think you will agree that is a fabulous price for eight dresses!

Fitting a Soft Mood

Today I was in the mood for softness.  My mood was met with lovely finds from Tameless Hair at the Hair Fair, Callyscloset, and The Muse Poses!

Shadow Moon at The Kollective

I'm so excited about tomorrow!  I've been waiting in anticipation for what seems like years for the first round of  The Kollective to open!  If you have not heard, The Kollective is an event which includes items from a variety of designers who have collaborated with a blogger to create an exclusive item!

I was honored to have been paired with Candy Nizna, the designer and owner of Shadow Moon!  It was so exciting to collaborate with her on the creation for the event!  She was a gem to work with while I explained my ideas.  Luckily, she could read my mind and created Summer Flowers as the event exclusive!

Fitting My Mood

To start the weekend, I was in the mood for something in bright colors to wear, and also for a new skin.  I looked through my landmarks and decided to stop by Amarelo Manga and the SYS Project to see if I could find something to suit my mood!

I found two gorgeous outfits at Amarelo Manga which totally fit my mood!  I fell in love with the lovely style of both outfits, and the colors fit my mood beautifully!  I'm looking forward to wearing them during some of the outings with friends I have planned!

SL Buddy Walk -- Charming Creations for a Cause

If you have not attended the SL Buddy Walk, you will want to make time in your day to stop in at the event.  The event is being held to help raise funds and awareness of Down Syndrome.  There are creators from across the grid who have generously placed items for sale in which 100% of each sale will go toward the SL Buddy Walk!

The first items I want to show you are from Immerse and Stars!  Though not a donation item, I had to show you the Savannah gown.  The extremely lovely gown will make you feel like a princess with the full skirt, lush fabric, and charming detail!  While you are at Immerse's booth, be sure to pick up the fantastic casual outfits from the vendors which will donate 100% of the sale to the event!

I chose to pair the Savannah gown with the exquisitely elegant Unity jewelry set from Stars!  As you can see in the photo below, the detail of the Unity Set is wonderfully delicate.  The entwined hearts are a perfect symbol for the event, and also beautiful reminder for everyone once the event is over. 

Also shown in the above photo is another look at Amacci's creation for the event.  The stunning Emma skin is available in Nutmeg and Pale!  

The next set of items I want to show you are fabulously charming!  The modifiable prop from KaTink is another wonderful symbol for the event.  As you can see, the prop allows for three people to pose.  Alas, I didn't have another two people online who had time to pose for a photo; however, there is a beautiful photo of the prop at the KaTink booth!

The photo below shows a closer look at the darling Ans Dress from Ryuukou.  The creation is perfect for the days spent exploring in SL!  You can dress it up with accessories, or wear it without adornment for your casual events with friends! 

I've also given you look at another superbly created lipstick from Pink Acid!   The Silk Lips and Teeth set includes eight colors to draw attention to your luscious lips!  Also, be sure to pick up the Mildred Lips and Teeth set while you are there!
